Rumours are rife that the Nissan 370Z Roadster is about to be killed off from the Japanese car-maker's line-up.
According to US blog
, citing a conversation with a Nissan spokesman, the Nissan 370Z Roadster will not live on into the 2020 model year in the North American market. In a statement, Nissan spokesman Kyle Torrens said the brand "will not offer the Roadster variant for the current-generation Z beginning with model year 2020".
Introduced back in 2009, the Nissan 370Z Roadster, like the coupe, has already lived well beyond the usual life cycle.
Last month Nissan unveiled a special liveried version of the Nissan 370Z to help celebrate 50 years of Zeds but that was more cosmetic than mechanical overhaul.
Back in March 2018 reports suggested the brand's iconic Z sports would be saved after all with the news that a powerful 335kW turbo V6-powered all-wheel drive coupe was being readied for an unveiling around the end of 2019.
There's been no word since whether the Z-branded baby GT-R is on the way. However, news Nissan hasn't abandoned the 370Z for a sporty SUV it had originally planned remains music to the ears of enthusiasts.
Known internally as the Z35, the next 370Z was rumoured to be developed alongside the next-gen Infiniti Q60, sharing its platform, powertrains and electrical architecture to keep a lid on costs.
It's unclear how the decision to cull the droptop version of the 370Z affects the Australian market.
