TOKYO MOTOR SHOW: Opening highlights
Once again Tokyo has provided a mix of world firsts with a good dollop of kooky conceptsThe 42nd Tokyo Motor Show was home to panoply of never-before seen vehicles, a cacophony of colourful concept cars that were a mixture of pure fantasy and production intent. Toyota and Subaru attracted a lot of attention for their jointly developed rear-wheel drive coupes, the 86 and BRZ respectively. It was also interesting to see them argue over who's idea it was...
Mazda was another local marque to attract the lime light, its Takeri concept a preview of the next generation Mazda6 mid-sized car. Mitsubishi showed off the new Mirage and a ridiculously frugal hybrid SUV, the PX-MiEV, and Volkswagen followed suit with its own hybrid SUV, the Cross Coupe. Honda's compact electric sports car, the EV-STER, wasn't the reborn NSX pundits were hoping for, but it certainly looked good.
