Leveraging smart phones to improve the driving experience is nothing new, but Toyota has taken the concept to a whole new level. The Fun-Vii concept car allows drivers to change the exterior of the car via an app on their mobile phone.
The Fun-Vii concept has been revealed ahead of its Tokyo motor show debut, a high-tech sub compact three-seater vehicle slightly longer than a Yaris, which features special interior and exterior surfacing that can be changed at will.
Think of the Toyota Fun-Vii's body panels as curved LCD screens that can be updated with different wallpaper depending on the driver's mood.
As Toyota explains: "...the whole vehicle body can be used as a display space, with the body colour and display content changeable at will. This allows the entire vehicle to function as a terminal for displaying messages or other information."
The possibilities for unique and peculiar visuals on the car are almost endless - leave your thoughts in the comments below of what you think would be the strangest thing to see on the body panels of the Fun-Vii concept car.
While the Toyota Fun-Vii is just a concept at this stage, the company says it has been designed for the "not-too-distant future" when social media and the driving experience will go hand in hand.
Part of the concept car's interior can also be customised to the driver's personal tastes via the special smart phone application, with the entire dashboard and floor capable of displaying digital information. It appears to use holographic projections for some of the interior displays too, but we wonder if this might prove distracting for the driver?
