The 2025 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X has been updated and will return to Australian dealers later this year in limited numbers, replacing the sold-out run of the model that was last offered back in 2023.
Announcing that Blue Oval will offer just 750 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X utes in Australia, pricing for the off-road focused pick-up will kick off at $77,640 plus on-roads when first deliveries begin later this quarter.
At that money the limited-run ute will cost $8000 more than the standard Wildtrak. However, following on from the previous Wildtrak X edition, the more rugged ute comes with a long list of standard equipment needed by those who regularly venture off the beaten track.
The extras include a raised ride height and trick Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers with remote reservoirs. There’s also an increased track width (+30mm) and boosted ground clearance (+26mm), which all ensure the four-wheel drive Ranger is more accomplished off-road.
Just one powertrain is offered with the Wildtrak X – the 2.0-litre twin-turbo-diesel that produces 150kW and 500Nm, and which is combined with a 10-speed automatic that can drive two or all four wheels.
Capable of towing up to 3500kg, the more capable Ranger rides on 17-inch Asphalt Black alloy wheels that are wrapped with all-terrain tyres.
Externally, you can spot a Wildtrak X thanks to its off-road grille that comes mounted with auxiliary LEDs. Ford’s Flexible Rack System is also fitted as standard, as well as heavy-duty side steps and a strong front steel bash plate.
Other tell-tales are the front door and tailgate badging, the Asphalt Black front bumper that gets a Cyber Orange-coloured strip, and black wheel arch mouldings.
Within, there’s the overhead auxiliary switches, a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, premium B&O sound system, Wildtrak X embroidered logos on the suede and leather seats, as well as on the glovebox, plus further branding on the floor mats and kickplates.
Adding more of a premium feel, the glovebox, dash and door tops are covered with suede, while Cyber Orange is used for the stitching.
Further grey accents are used on the upper glove box, steering wheel and elsewhere within the upmarket cabin.
As standard the Ranger Wildtrak X gets Trail Turn Assist, Trail Control and a Rock Crawl drive mode that have all been introduced to reduce your chances of getting stuck.
Ford Australia says the Ranger Wildtrak X will only be on sale for a limited time, and that it expects the model to sell out soon after its introduction.
