Toyota Australia has announced it will now offer smartphone mirroring as a standard feature on select models, finally bringing the Japanese marque up to speed with rivals.
From November 1, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will come standard on Prius, Corolla hatch, Camry and Granvia models.
The tech will also be fitted standard to the new Corolla sedan and updated C-HR that are due on sale by the end of the year.
On top of that, Toyota has introduced a retrofit program for owners with the latest generation Prius, Camry or Corolla hatch. Those customers can pay $199 to have the same tech fitted.
Toyota says existing owners of the all-new HiAce and RAV4 can upgrade their infotainment system free of charge. However, the upgrade is not available to Toyota's most popular model in Australia, the HiLux, because its infotainment system is incompatible.
“By offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility in our vehicles, we are continuing to refine our market offerings and provide our customers with the products and services that enhance their lives,” said Toyota Australia’s sales and marketing vice president, Sean Hanley.
“The technology will allow our customers to stay informed, entertained and in touch with the wider world from behind the wheel, directly through the vehicles’ upgraded multimedia systems.”
