The Toyota LandCruiser’s off-road capability is fundamental to its unprecedented appeal, but there’s a cadre of customers who desire the big new 300 Series for its undeniable street cred as an urban assault vehicle, and Khann International is catering precisely to their desires.
Not to be confused with Project Khan, the self-styled world-leading automotive fashion house famous for its 6x6 Flying Huntsman off-road weapon, Khann International has designed an eye-popping wide-body kit for the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series that comprises enough carbon-fibre to put a Formula 1 team out of business.
Before you ask why, consider that not every LandCruiser buyer is seeking to take the path less travelled, or even to tow up to 3500kg with their full-size SUV.
Some owners simply want the most expensive Toyota money can buy, and a smaller group may desire a more exclusive, street-savvy look to stand out from the growing number of Mercedes-Benz GLS and Range Rover SUVs on our roads.
Yes, the new Lexus LX could fill that void, but the jury is still out on its radical design. We’re not sure if this LandCruiser upgrade kit is any better, so you be the judge.
Khann International’s carbon-fibre upgrades are comprehensive and include a bonnet cover flanked by faux vents, a front grille cover, fog light nacelles, mirror caps, ‘gills’ behind the front wheel-arches, twin tailgate wings located above the LED tail-lights and inserts behind the rear wheel-arches.
Completing the tough new look are forged black or silver/black 22-inch alloy wheels with tyres that fill out the wide body kit’s pumped-up wheel-arch extensions.
Sourcing the upgraded Khann components could be easier than finding a vehicle, however, given global demand for the new Toyota LandCruiser continues to outstrip supply.
Indeed, sales of the LandCruiser 300 Series are down by 60 per cent in Australia compared to the same time last year, due to sporadic factory closures in Japan where it’s built.
Toyota has delivered 3015 LC300s in the first four months of 2022 – down from 7664 during the same period in 2021.
Nevertheless, it’s still the top-selling upper-large SUV in Australia by a long shot, with the V8-powered Nissan Patrol sitting in second spot with 1978 sales.
