Toyota RAV4 update for Geneva revealed

Japanese firm will have a revised version of its compact SUV on display at the Geneva show

In some non-recall related news, Toyota will be showing an updated version of the RAV4 at the Geneva motor show in March. In a bid to turn the tide of recent negative publicity the Japanese giant has spilled the beans on its updated SUV.

The bad news is this updated model isn't destined for Australian dealerships.

Apart from a nose job incorporating grille, headlights and front bumper bar that gives a more bulbous, aggressive look, the visual changes promise to be minimal.

Toyota says the revised front end is "more sophisticated" and is backed up by some interior work aimed at making the compact SUV "more refined".

More importantly, even though details are not yet forthcoming, the RAV update is claimed to be "one of the cleanest competitors" in the segment "thanks to its range of Toyota Optimal Drive powertrains."

Optimal Drive refers to an efficiency-enhancing regime that uses low-friction components, enhanced combustion efficiency and lightweight design to minimise exhaust emissions and maximise fuel economy.
