Toyota stabilises Corolla range

Toyota completes Corolla range with stability control as-standard across lineup

The Toyota Corolla range at last offers stability control throughout the lineup. Late to the stability control 'party' the Corolla now joins cars like Ford's Focus and VW's Golf that offer the important safety feature as standard equipment.

Corolla sedan models produced from late 2009 are equipped with the brand's VSC (vehicle stability control), bringing the range into line with the hatch models which were upgraded with VSC as standard late last year.

Traction control is also standard-fit equipment.

Toyota cites figures from international road safety experts claiming vehicle stability control could prevent nearly one-third of all fatal crashes and reduce rollover risk by as much as 80 per cent. Its inclusion in Toyota's small car offering is especially important considering the Corolla accounts for 22 per cent of the brand's sales in Australia.

Toyota sold 39,013 Corolla models in Australia last year and the nameplate regularly exceeds 30,000 sales every year.
