Toyota has released a sportier limited-edition version of its Melbourne-made Aurion large sedan designed to increase its appeal to both fleets and private buyers.
Based on the entry-model Toyota Aurion AT-X ($36,490), the sportier Touring SE model adds a handful of cosmetic and comfort features. The new model is a limited-run vehicle and the Altona plant will produce only 1500 units, which will be available until December 2012.
Priced at $37,990, the SE's $1500 price premium adds exterior features including 17-inch alloy wheels, a sports grille and front foglights, not to mention unique SE badging and a rear spoiler. The car also gets a full-sized spare wheel.
Inside the special-edition Aurion are several premium touch-points, among them a new steering wheel with audio controls and sports pedals. The abovementioned features come on top of the Aurion AT-X's regular kit, including dual-zone climate-control, reversing camera, electric power adjustable driver's seat, plus seven airbags and electronic stability control.
Like its donor car, the Aurion Touring SE also gets a multi-function display with eco indicator, along with a six-speaker stereo with iPod, AUX and USB connectivity.
There are six colours to choose from: white, silver, blue, black, wildfire and graphite, with metallic paint a $425 option.
Like all Toyota Aurion models, motive force is handled by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine outputting 200kW/336Nm and matched to a six-speed automatic gearbox driving the front wheels.
