Toyota has released a single teasing shot of an all-new concept it plans to reveal at the New York motor show next month.
Called the FT-4X, the all-new SUV is rumoured to be a direct replacement for the old Prado-based FJ Cruiser it sold from globally from 2004-2016.
That explains its knobbly off-road Goodyear tyres and alloy wheel design, which suggest a tough, butch off-roader.
The original FJ was powered by a 200kW/380Nm 4.0-litre petrol V6. The new version is expected to remain LandCruiser-based but powered by the more modern twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 the latest Lexus LS comes with.
A hybrid four-cylinder version is also likely.
Toyota is expected to continue the teasing us under the (terrible) slogan "Four wheeling. Scene Stealing" right up to the FT-4X's unveil at the US show on April 12.
