Toyota wheels out 'Tokyo Shock Toys'

Aftermarket mobs go to town on virtually the entire Toyota line-up for the Tokyo Auto Salon

Toyota used the Tokyo Auto Salon -- an aftermarket extravaganza that's said to be even bigger than the SEMA show in Las Vegas -- to wheel out no less than 17 modded vehicles ranging from mild to wild.

The headline act was the GRMN (Gazoo Racing tuned by MN) iQ Racing Concept, which turns the mild-mannered micro-hatch into an angry-looking monster that's allegedly racetrack-ready.

There's not too much technical guff to go on, but the little hottie packs a supercharged engine, roll cage, deep front airdam, flared guards and a huge wheel/tyre combo. Of course, there's also the mandatory race paint, featuring Toyota's black/red/grey/white competition colours.

It's not the first iQ to be fettled by Gazoo as its previous creation was produced in limited numbers and quickly sold out in 2009. Gazoo Racing's claims to fame include preparing the Lexus LFA racer that claimed a class win at the Nurburgring 24-hour enduro.

The iQ Racing Concept took the stage alongside tweaked and tuned versions of the Prius, Vitz (read: Yaris), Auris, Corolla, Noah, FJ Cruiser, Lexus CT and IS F and various other vehicles.

Gazoo's handiwork was complemented by offerings from TRD (Toyota Racing Development) and G Sports, with the latter even turning its attention to the fuel-sipping Prius.

Once again, there's little in the way of tech details to go on for the pimped Prius, but the visual makeover certainly does its part in boosting the hybrid's appeal.

As for the craziest name for a car, well, that would have to go to the 'Passo de Tea Time' concept, prepared by TMC customizing & accessories.
