Track-suited Maserati MC20 GT2 Stradale goes on sale

The GT2-inspired 2025 Maserati MC20 GT2 Stradale has been confirmed for Australia and will start from $699,000 plus on-road costs when the first examples arrive late next year.

Weighing 59kg less than the standard car, the MC20 GT2 Stradale combines its lithe 1365kg kerb weight with an extra 8kW of power, totalling 471kW/720Nm from its twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre ‘Nettuno’ V6 petrol engine.

The improved power-to-weight ratio means the track toy can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds, with the Maserati matching the more powerful 522kW McLaren 750S and the 488kW hybrid Ferrari 296 GTB – although it’s noting that the lightweight Mazza commands a six-figure-plus premium over both of those models.

Built for hot-lapping, the still-road legal GT2 Stradale gets an aggressive new aero package that includes a huge adjustable rear wing, a big front splitter, ventilated bonnet and large side spoilers.

In total, Maserati says the MC20 musters 300kg of downforce at 280km/h (130kg over the front axle,170kg over the rear), with the GT2 Stradale topping out at 324km/h.

Weight-saving measures meantime include the standard carbon ceramic brakes that save 17kg, a pair of carbon-fibre racing seats (-20kg), lighter alloy wheels (-18kg) and a new redesigned rear bonnet lid (-1kg.)

Reduced insulation within (-4.5kg), a new exterior carbon-fibre pack (-5kg) and a revised cockpit tunnel (-1.5kg) save a further 11kg.

Other upgrades include a GT2 racing-derived suspension set-up, steering rack, braking package and adjustable ABS.

The brake pedal has been adapted for shorter responses on-track, while engineers have also adapted the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission for quicker gear shifts.

Helping drivers extract maximum performance from the GT2 Stradale is a new Corsa Evo driving mode offered as part of a special Performance Pack, which also adds Michelin semi-slick tyres, a new electronic limited-slip differential and a four-way adjustable traction control system.

A further Performance Plus Pack throws in four-point harnesses and a fire-extinguisher.

Headline cabin equipment straight out the box includes a new steering wheel with LED shift lights, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and acres of ultra-lightweight carbon-fibre trim.

As standard, the GT2 Stradale gets a built-in performance data logger.

Available in Black, Blue, Yellow and White, there’s no word yet on how many MC20 GT2 Stradales will be sold Down Under, but the local importer says it was doing its best to secure “as many as possible”.
