Chery has previewed its all-new Tiggo V ahead of its global debut at Auto China 2026, showcasing what could be the production version of the wacky transformable ‘multi-SUV’ concept shown last October.

Dubbed a ‘world-first’ when it was shown as the T1TP concept at the 2025 Chery User Summit, the Chinese carmaker now looks to be readying the production version of its transforming SUV.
Designed as a core global vehicle, the Tiggo V is pitched as a multipurpose machine to deliver a genuine ‘one vehicle for all scenarios’ solution thanks to flexible seating and a configurable interior space.
In its most conventional form, it operates as a three-row, seven-seat SUV, however Chery says the Tiggo V can switch between six distinct layouts or configurations, able to convert into a dual-cab ute, a camper-style vehicle, or a load-focused carrier thanks to a quick-release rear structure.

Therefore, it can cover what Chery says is 99 per cent of family mobility scenarios.
Key metrics originally quoted for the concept include a 600-litre cargo capacity in dual-cab ute mode, along with an interior design engineered for usability across age groups, with an interior height of 1284mm to allow young children to stand upright, while also making entry and exit easier for older passengers.
While full technical details are yet to be confirmed, the presence of charging flaps on both sides of the concept suggests Chery is planning to a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which aligns with the vehicle’s adventure-focused brief.

Chery says the Tiggo V – which could arrive Down Under as the Tiggo 5, even though it would technically sit above the Tiggo 7, 8 and 9 SUVs as the brand’s flagship – is expected to deliver across four key pillars: cabin space and comfort, in-car technology, all-road capability and efficient performance.
Chery’s new flagship SUV hasn’t been locked in for Australia, however a spokesperson for the Chinese brand says the model is under consideration, adding: “As this is the vehicle’s first outing, it’s currently too early to tell if it will be offered in Aussie showrooms.”
