Updated 2024 Honda HR-V brings lower prices

New e:HEV hybrid starts from less than $40k drive-away as the whole HR-V range gets cheaper

Pricing for the updated 2024 Honda HR-V will open from $34,900 drive-way when it goes on sale on October 1, the refreshed and expanded range headlined by a new cut-price e:HEV variant.

The variant in question is the new-to-Australia e:HEV X which will check in at $39,900 drive-away and slot in beneath the top-spec e:HEV L ($42,900), trimming more than $7000 off the previous hybrid entry price.

As it turns out, Honda Australia has taken the opportunity to lower every HR-V’s asking price with the arrival of the updated model, the price adjustments varying between $1800-$4100 depending on the variant – see pricing table below – but not to the detriment of any pre-existing standard features, meaning the new HR-V offers more for less.

The average punter would be hard-pressed to spot the cosmetic changes the facelift ushers in seeing as they only extend to a darkened upper lip on the front fascia, adaptive LED headlights for the e:HEVs and a refined tail-light signature.

Inside the cabin you’ll find a simplified centre console, extended storage trays and some USB-C ports.

Changes you can’t see meantime include a five-year Honda Connect subscription, retuned power steering system, extra cabin soundproofing, revised dampers and updated hybrid power control unit software for the e:HEVs and improvements to the Honda Sensing safety suite.

Low speed braking control, traffic jam assist, pedestrian and bicycle front cross-traffic collision and oncoming motorcycle collision detection have all been added to the mix along with enhancements to the road departure mitigation system, adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist system.

“The launch of the new HR-V to the Australian market includes the long-awaited arrival of a new hybrid grade,” Honda Australia director Carolyn McMahon said.

“The expansion of our hybrid options has been a hot topic for some time, and we are very excited to be able to extend this new e:HEV X to our already popular hybrid offering across the Honda range.”

As with all Honda Australia products, the new HR-V is covered by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.
