The facelifted 2024 Skoda Scala has been approved for sale in Australia and will arrive in local showrooms towards the middle of this year with a seemingly unchanged two-pronged line-up.
Federal homologation data seen by carsales shows the Czech brand’s updated small car will retain the familiar 85kW and 110kW hierarchy, with the former set to continue powering the base Ambition while the latter is reserved for the better-specced Signature.
Those nameplates could change to ‘Essence’ and ‘Selection’ as per the European market, given the Australian homologation database doesn’t always reference specific nameplates – usually they’re internal product codes.
Missing from the approved line-up is the spruced-up Monte Carlo flagship, which has been absent from the Aussie range since 2022 but could return at some point given the 110kW powertrain is listed as coming standard with both a passive suspension set-up and ‘sport chassis control’ (adaptive dampers).
The adaptive set-up hasn’t been offered in Australia before and would provide owners with two settings for the suspension as well as a 15mm drop in ride height, resulting in a sportier but ultimately more versatile vehicle.
carsales understands that final specification and pricing details of the new Scala are still being finalised and will be announced closer to the model’s local release, though a price increase is anticipated.
No major changes have been made to the Scala’s mechanical package as part of the facelift, with the update instead focusing on cosmetic tweaks and a technology upgrade for one of the few remaining European hatchbacks on sale in Australia.
