Updated Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross coming
Popular Japanese small SUV to get fresh exterior and interior designs plus more equipment this yearThe Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (pictured) will be on the receiving end of a mid-lift facelift from November.
Updated exterior and interior design and improved equipment levels will be among the major changes, but it’s not yet clear whether prices will increase from the current model’s $29,990-$39,490 range.
Mitsubishi is keeping mum on images and particulars for now, but calls the small SUV’s mid-life update ‘significant’ and says there will be “…major front and rear design enhancements, taking cues from Mitsubishi’s next-generation design language”.
There will also be a ‘revised’ interior and a new infotainment system, but it’s unclear whether there’ll be changes to the current model’s 1.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine (110kW/250Nm).
The global reveal of the updated Eclipse Cross is expected to take place in the next couple of months ahead of its Aussie arrival.
Originally set for a July launch in Australia, the update Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will now arrive here from around November. It’s not clear if the delays are due to the coronavirus pandemic and the challenges this creates for car manufacturing plants.
Mitsubishi has also today confirmed it will reveal its next-generation Outlander in early 2021 ahead of its arrival in local showrooms late next year.
As for the Mitsubishi ASX, it appears there’ll be no changes until at least 2022, at which point the popular small SUV is expected to be replaced by an all-new model based on the Nissan JUKE’s platform.
