Upgraded 2025 Toyota Yaris and Yaris Cross roll out

Extra driver-assist features added to small hatch and light SUV amid range-wide price rise

The 2025 Toyota Yaris hatch and 2025 Toyota Yaris Cross SUV have been improved with more tech as part of 2025 model year upgrades designed to boost safety.

From now on, the MY25 Toyota Yaris and Yaris Cross come with a low-speed acoustic alert to warn pedestrians and cyclists of their presence when both hybrids are running in electric mode at low speed.

All Yaris and Yaris Cross models now also get parking assist tech that applies the brakes when reversing if the vehicle detects a pedestrian or object crossing in its path.

The Yaris Cross GX also adopts blind spot monitoring and safe exit assist.

More new kit includes new 16-inch alloy wheels for the Yaris SX, while the Yaris GX gets heated elements for its exterior mirrors.

Finally, both models come with more environmentally friendly refrigerant for their climate control.

Under the bonnet the Yaris and Yaris Cross remain powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid powertrain that produces 67kW and 120Nm. This is combined with a 59kW and 141Nm e-motor for a total system output of 85kW.

Like before, the Yaris Cross is available with all-wheel drive, which adds a small 3.9kW/52Nm rear motor.

Along with the updates, Toyota Australia has introduced price rises across the line-up that range from a modest $40 bump on the Yaris Cross GXL to a hefty $890 increase on the Yaris Cross GX.

Commenting on the updates to the 2025 Toyota Yaris and 2025 Toyota Yaris Cross, Toyota Australia sales and marketing boss Sean Hanley said the changes fell in line with the brand’s overarching philosophy.

“Safety remains one of our highest priorities when developing, designing and engineering Toyota vehicles and it’s a continuous process, so when new technologies are developed we make them available for customers as soon as possible.

“These latest upgrades for the Yaris hatch and Yaris Cross SUV are an example of that and while the changes are incremental, every new technology contributes to the safety of all road users.”
