The Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH endurance race car has been shown off testing for the first time, and it looks sharp. Very sharp.
The British sports car-maker released a video showing its hypercar being driven in anger at both Silverstone and Donnington Park race circuits in the UK.
Turn up your speakers as you're in for a real treat as you'll be able to hear the glorious sound of the race-spec Aston Martin Valkyrie's naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 earning its keep in this rev-happy video.
Created to deliver Aston Martin its first outright win of the Le Mans 24 Hour since 1959, it's thought the Valkyrie will have its 746kW (plus) power output turned down to 500kW with weight capped at 1030kg.
Originally designed and engineered with Red Bull Racing's Adrian Newey, the most extreme version of the Valkyrie will ditch the hybrid parts of its powertrain in order to save weight.
Teaming up with US-based Heart of Racing, which already has experience fielding GT3-spec Aston Martin Vantage race cars, the Valkyrie AMR-LMH will compete in both the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech championship and the World Endurance Championship – the latter including the world’s most famous sports car race, the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Hypercar racing derived from actual road-going supercars or hypercars was reintroduced to attempt to replicate the glory of the late 1990's GT12 era that saw cars like the McLaren F1 and Porsche 911 GT1 do battle on track.
Aston Martin and Heart of Racing will officially reveal the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH later this year.
