Holden VF Commodore's ute and wagon variants won't be as changed as the sedan.
Fleeting images of the wagon variant in Holden's launch promotional film of the VF Commodore and a strategically placed ute at Holden's Friday reveal, suggest strongly that the Sportwagon and light-commercial variant will receive new front sheet metal only.
Exterior changes to the rear of the five door and ute will likely be limited to a reprofiled bumper and new tail light treatment.
Holden featured aerial footage of a group of VFs at Victoria's Mt Hotham as part of its launch reveal video. In it the wagon was only lightly camouflaged at the rear. Press images of the development wagon back up the impression. And During Friday's (Feb 8) media preview Holden used a ute as a 'prop', demonstrating the clay modelling process as part of its design overview. Save for the front wing vents, the sides of the two-door were unchanged.
Both variants will, however, benefit from the substantial interior redesign that comprises much of the VF's retail story. Utes and wagons will both get the auto parking system and keyless entry is also a very likely inclusion across the range.
Sunday’s (Feb 10) morning reveal of the VF Commodore was limited to the range-topping ‘luxury sport’ Calais V variant. The counterpoint ‘sports luxury’ SS will be unveiled in conjunction with its Chevrolet counterpart at next weekend’s Daytona 500 race.
Holden has not revealed when it will release details of the VF Commodore’s bread and butter variants. Speculation suggests that the Omega and Berlina levels will be merged. The sporty SV6 is likely to stay in the line-up.
