VIDEO: Watch Audi A4 allroad terrorise neighbourhood

New US ad imagines a world where the neighbourhood you live in is a rally stage

Audi USA has released an entertaining new ad for its A4 allroad that would be instantly banned here in Australia.

Set in called Allroad, USA, initially it seems the backdrop for the promotional vid is a typical suburban setting, until you clock the truck spreading dirt that is.

The town’s tranquillity is then instantly broken by an A4 allroad being drifted impressively through the neighbourhood, throwing up huge rooster tails of dirt while it does it.

Instead of angrily reacting, fellow neighbours either get on with their day, or happily wave the small wagon as it passes quickly and very sideways.

Created to celebrate the beginning of sales of the A4 allroad in the US, sadly, restrictions on automotive advertising here would mean the American ad would be instantly banned if it were ever shown here.

Already on sale in Australia, the high-riding A4 allroad wagon is priced from $74,400 (plus on-road costs) and comes with the car-maker's latest generation quattro all-wheel drive.

The lighter new system is available exclusively in conjunction with the 185kW/370Nm 2.0 TFSI variant, bringing fuel economy benefits to the model by operating in front-wheel drive mode in usual running.

All-wheel drive is available on demand with up to 100 per cent of torque on offer at each axle. Further, the system may be locked in ‘offroad’ mode, via Audi’s Drive Select function.

The cheapest 140kW/400Nm 2.0 TDI variant ($71,400 plus ORCs), joins the range in November and will continue to offer Audi’s familiar permanent quattro all-wheel drive configuration.

Both models come equipped with Audi's seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission that can free-wheel or coast down hills to save fuel.

Riding 34mm higher than a regular A4 wagon, the allroad features a wider track, flared wheel-arches and different front and rear bumpers. A chrome vertical slat grille, chrome door handles and roof rails complete the look.
