Volkswagen T-Roc now available to pre-order
New German city-SUV sales launched this week ahead of April touchdownThe Volkswagen T-Roc is now officially available to pre-order in Australia, before first deliveries of the all-new small SUV in April.
Helping Volkswagen fill a gaping void in ts Australian SUV line-up, which is currently anchored by the mid-size Tiguan, the T-Roc and the smaller T-Cross will both enter local showrooms by mid-2020.
The Volkswagen T-Roc shares its MQB platform, engine line-up and interior proportions with the Volkswagen Golf hatch and has been conceived as a rival for premium versions of small SUVs like the popular Mazda CX-3, Hyundai Kona and Nissan QASHQAI.
The Volkswagen T-Roc will initially launch in a high-specification 140TSI Sport variant, priced from $40,490 (plus on-road costs), before being joined by an entry version at a later date (details to be confirmed). Customers can be first in line to secure the T-Roc 140TSI Sport via a refundable $500 online deposit on the Volkswagen Australia website.
Meantime, the smaller T-Cross will launch in Australia priced from $27,990 (plus on-road costs).
Powered by a 140kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder, the T-Roc 140TSI Sport drives all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission.
Standard features on the flagship T-Roc are extensive, extending to a digital instrument display (read: virtual cockpit), 8.0-inch touch-screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, 18-inch alloys, LED ambient lighting, chrome roof rails, LED headlights, reversing camera and front/rear parking sensors.
Safety equipment is likewise all-encompassing, with items including Front Assist with City Emergency Brake (low-speed AEB) and pedestrian monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane assist with adaptive lane guidance, blind spot monitoring with rear traffic assist, traffic jam assist and protection system, automatic wipers and headlights.
As with other Volkswagen models, there are optional equipment packages available with the 140TSI Sport. These include the $2000 Sound and Style package, bringing 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive suspension and a 300-Watt sound system, and the $3500 Luxury Package, which bundles a panoramic sunroof, Vienna leather upholstery and an electrically-operated tailgate.
Volkswagen has also confirmed the release of a separate T-Roc X variant, which commemorates the car-maker's 10-year association with AFL team, the Sydney Swans.
Limited to 200 examples, the T-Roc X is adorned in the Swans primary colours (red and white) courtesy of a two-tone roof colour. Pricing has been set at $42,990 (plus on-road costs), the added premium bringing 19-inch wheels, adaptive suspension, Beats 300W audio, electric tailgate and black/anthracite/red cloth upholstery.
Both T-Roc variants can be secured with a $500 deposit until mid-April or when stock is exhausted, says Volkswagen.
Both new T-Roc models the new T-Cross will be available to view at the Volksfest event in Brisbane on February 16.
