Volkswagen gives the humble office chair a makeover

Go full throttle in the office with a chair with a top speed of 20 km/h and an estimated range of 12 km.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Norway has created the ultimate office chair, packed with features you’d find in a VW van including the Crafter and the new all-electric I.D Buzz. Not only can this humble office chair drive on pure electric mode, but it also has LED lights, driver assistance and infotainment system.

After months of tedious work and testing, this one-of-a-kind chair was launched to the people of Norway. The chair has an estimated range of 12 km so office workers can zoom to and from coffee machines and meetings throughout the day. With a top speed of 20 km/h, users won't have a problem being first out the door at the end of the day either.

The seat embroidered with the VW logo comes with a seatbelt (safety first), seat warmer and inbuilt touchscreens in the armrests. These give you access to the rear-view camera and 360-degree sensors, LED lights, indicators, Office Party Lights mode and car horn.

The office chair also has a HiFi speaker system, pre-loaded with road trip songs to make your workday fly by. The chair is operated by using the foot pedals and the 2WD system rides on 4-inch alloy wheels.

The chair even features practical storage compartments in the back. Perfect for holding a laptop, quarterly reports, and other documents relevant to any office job. If you have more documents than the boot can handle, there’s even a trailer hitch so you can easily drag them all around the office with ease.

While the electric driving office chair is unavailable to purchase, it is available to test drive at certain VW dealerships throughout Norway in the coming months.
