Volkswagen has shown off its rival for the poor-selling Segway.
Called the Last Mile Surfer, the new three-wheeled scooter weighs in at 11kg and travels almost 20km between charges.
The German giant's first mobility device, powered by lithium-ion batteries, has been created to enable motorists to park outside a congested city centre, allowing owners to commute in without having to rely on public transport.
Confirmed to go on sale next year in 2016, the Last Mile Surfer will go on sale in Europe priced at 1000 euros, or around $1500 our money. It’s not yet known whether the mobility scooter will be offered to Australian buyers.
