Volkswagen Multivan Edition priced

Limited-run German people-mover brings exclusivity and some practical toys

Those in the market for an exclusive premium people-mover are in for a treat following confirmation of the 2022 Volkswagen Multivan Edition for Australia, where pricing has now been set at $76,990 plus on-road costs.

That equated to a $7500 price premium over the Multivan Comfortline Premium TDI340 SWB on which the Edition is based, and just 250 examples of the special Multivan are due to arrive in local showrooms in the coming months.

The extra dough will earn buyers an adjustable multifunction table for rear passengers, an integrated booster seat within a rear captain’s chair, wood-effect rear flooring, an 8.0-inch infotainment interface with sat-nav and a digital instrument cluster.

Other equipment highlights include wireless app-connect, voice control, a pair of USB-C ports, heated left and right front swivel seats, LED interior lighting, privacy glass, powered tailgate and an ‘Edition’ side step light.

From the outside, the limited-edition is distinguished by its black roof, B-pillar and wing mirrors, as well as its exclusive two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels and ‘Edition’ decals.

Seven exterior paint colours are available, only three of which – Candy White, Pure Grey and Cherry Red – are included in the price.

Ravenna Blue Metallic, Mojave Beige Metallic, Reflex Silver Metallic and Indium Grey Metallic all add an extra $1780 to the Multivan Edition’s bottom line and are the only available options.

Power and torque from the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine are unchanged at 110kW/340Nm, while a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic continues to handle transmission duties.

“Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is introducing the Multivan Edition to the Australian market during Q3/4 2022, boasting enhanced style, thoughtful extras and alluring value,” said Volkswagen Group Australia today.

“Unique models continue to define the growing Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles offerings in 2022 by targeting specific-use applications that are tailored to particular customers.

“Other recent examples include the Caddy California and California 6.1 Beach – with a further van expansion set to come.”

A run of special editions points to the looming demise of the current T6-generation Transporter and Multivan line-ups as Volkswagen eyes the new T7 generation for our market.
