Volkswagen Passat derivatives score upgraded diesel
More poke, reduced fuel consumption for Passat-based diesel variantsVolkswagen dealers have begun taking delivery of Passat, Alltrack and CC models powered by an upgraded 2.0-litre common-rail turbo-diesel.
The new engine, which brings with it a price rise of $500 for all models other than the Alltrack, now develops 130kWand 380Nm – increases of 5kW and 30Nm respectively. Fuel consumption has dropped slightly, with the Passat wagon and CC now using 5.4L/100km – down 0.3L/100km – and the Passat sedan now consuming 5.6L/100km, which is a change of just 0.1L/100km from the figure for the 125kW model it succeeds. At 6.3L/100km, the Alltrack's fuel consumption figure is unchanged.
Those vehicles that were previously marketed by the former engine's peak power figure are now named for the upgraded figure, making the upgraded Passat wagon the 'Passat 130TDI Highline Wagon', for instance.
New prices are $44,490 for the Passat 130TDI Highline sedan, $46,490 for the wagon equivalent, $47,790 for the Alltrack (unchanged), and $55,490 for the CC 130TDi.
