There’s an all-new, third-generation Touareg coming next year, but that hasn’t stopped Volkswagen Australia releasing a new Monochrome special-edition version of the current model.
Based on the entry-level Touareg 150TDI ($68,990 plus on-road costs), the Monochrome is priced 6000 higher at $74,990 plus ORCs yet brings more equipment and a host of black-and-white themed cosmetic extras.
Differentiating it on the outside are 19-inch ‘Moab’ alloy wheels, black mirror caps, a dark lower grille and roof rails, dark-tinted LED tail-lights and unique badging.
Inside, there are two-tone black-and-grey ‘Moonrock’ Vienna leather trimmed seats, brushed aluminium and piano black inserts for the dashboard and Titanium Black headlining.
Standard equipment includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist with City Emergency Braking, Proactive Occupant Protection, keyless access and start, an electric tailgate, a heated steering wheel with paddle shifters and tinted rear windows.
There are no options and only three available paint colours: Pure White, Canyon Grey metallic and Deep Black pearlescent.
There are no changes to the 150kW/450Nm 150TDI turbo-diesel engine, matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
