Volkswagen Australia has announced two separate recalls involving its mid-size and large SUV models, the Volkswagen Tiguan and Touareg.
The Tiguan recall affects 2627 R-Line vehicles built between 2017-2019 and relates to the installation of the roof spoiler.
Volkswagen says that due to deviations in the bonding process, the roof spoiler may partially or completely detach from the vehicle, increasing the risk of an accident or injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.
Meanwhile, 72 examples of the new Volkswagen Touareg have been recalled due to a potential transmission oil leak.
According to the recall notice, a gearbox oil pipe may have been incorrectly welded, which can result in a transmission oil leakage.
Volkswagen Australia says it will contact affected owners of all vehicles to organise a free inspection and repair.
