Volkswagen Australia has announced a new special edition of its large SUV, the Touareg Adventure, priced at $79,990.
Based on the 180TDI variant, the new model has been "designed with wanderlust in mind" says VW Australia, and comes with a 100-litre fuel tank and adaptive air suspension, allowing drivers to raise or lower the vehicle's ride height.
Other standard features on the Touareg Adventure model include roof racks, 19-inch 'Salvador' alloy wheels, Xenon headlights, adaptive cruise control and Vienna leather seat upholstery.

A number of towing and touring accessories packs can also be ordered with the vehicle as extra-cost options.
Power comes from a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine, generating 180kW and 550Nm. It'll dispatch the 0-100km/h sprint in 7.6 seconds and has a claimed fuel consumption rating of 7.6L/100km.
Propulsion is managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Volkswagen Touareg sales in Australia dipped almost 16 per cent in 2016, with 2168 vehicles finding homes, compared to 2568 in 2015.

For the first two months of 2017 sales of the big German SUV have slid over 30 per cent more, from 363 units to 251 year on year.
Available in four colours, including an exclusive new colour, Sand Gold Metallic – along with Pure White, Canyon Grey Metallic and Deep Black Pearl – the new Touareg Adventure will be available in Volkswagen showrooms from May 2017.
