Limited to 300 vehicles nationally and now available to order, the new Wolfsburg Edition touches down in showrooms from March 2021 with a choice of V6 or V8 diesel engine.
The V6 diesel is priced from $119,990 (plus on-road costs) and is limited to 200 examples, while the V8 diesel starts at $139,990 and is limited to 100 units.
The Touareg Wolfsburg V6 diesel represents an $11,000 premium over the existing Touareg 210 TDI R-Line, although VW points out that it brings a host of additional equipment including soft-closing doors, a ‘Sound and Comfort Package’, a black R-Line styling package, night vision, direct tyre pressure monitoring, Wolfsburg badging and the ‘Innovision Package’ – details of which are listed below.
Meanwhile, the Wolfsburg V8 diesel marks a $3500 premium over the forthcoming Touareg V8 TDI R-Line.
Under the bonnet, both Wolfsburg editions are identical to their respective donor model. That means a 310kW/900Nm 4.0-litre turbo-diesel V8, and a 210kW/600Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 – equating to 0-100km/h times of 4.9 seconds and 6.5sec respectively.
As you’d expect, the options lists for either Wolfsburg model is confined to minor details: a $3000 optional sunroof or $2100 metallic paint.
Volkswagen Australia claims the new ‘Black Style’ package “renders the Wolfsburg Edition the most visually arresting Touareg of the current generation” with black cosmetic treatments applied to the grille, headlight clusters, mirror caps, window surrounds, roof rails and 21-inch Suzuka alloy wheels.
“These unique enhancements to the popular R-Line package endow the Wolfsburg Edition with an aggressive demeanour which can be refined with exclusive Midnight Blue metallic paint,” the company said.
Like all Volkswagens, the Touareg is offered with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty in Australia and is available with a servicing Care Plan, which is priced at $1350 for three years or $2500 for five years.
