The all-new 2026 Volvo EX60 has been teased again on the Swedish brand’s social media, with the Geely-owned car-maker announcing it will be fully unwrapped in January 2026.
Created to go toe-to-toe with the likes of the Porsche Macan, Audi Q6 e-tron and the inbound all-new BMW iX3, the new tease of the EX60’s rear styling reveals a sharply creased rear fender and stepped rear light signature.
Like the latest EX90, it appears that the upper light elements will be embedded within the rear windscreen.
Other takeaways include new VOLVO lettering across the tailgate and smooth simple surfacing.
At the front, expect a slimmer interpretation of the firm’s Thor hammerhead LED headlamps, while pop-out door handles and aerodynamically honed alloy wheels will help slash its drag coefficient to boost efficiency.
It’s unclear if the EX60 will come with the same long-range roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, or if that tech will be the preserve of more expensive Volvos.
Beneath its new sharp-suited skin the Volvo EX60 will be the first Volvo to be based on its next-generation SPA3 architecture. Unrelated to any Geely platform, it will go on to underpin all future models made by the Swedish brand.
Claimed to be “groundbreaking”, the new platform is said to unlock range, boost efficiency and allow Volvo to fit the hardware needed for its most advanced driverless tech.
Details of the EX60’s EV powertrain remain scarce, but it’s thought it might be powered by the same 106-kilowatt-hour battery the ES90 sedan uses that should provide a range of around 650km.
A smaller 92kWh power pack should also be available.
Thanks to 800-volt electrics, the large battery should be capable of being topped up at the rate of 350kW with up to 300km of range added in just 10 minutes.
Already confirmed as the first recipient of its new multi-adaptive safety belt, that adapts to your height, weight and body shape, the Volvo EX60 is expected to raise the bar for safety in the mid-size SUV class.
Expect yet more teasers in the build-up to the 2026 Volvo EX60’s launch in January 2026, with a local debut Down Under expected in the second half of next year or early on in 2027.
