VW Oz announces Golf 7.5 specs

Volkswagen Group Australia has announced full details -- except for pricing, which is due in coming weeks and expected to increase – for its upgraded Golf '7.5', ahead of the release of hatchback, wagon and Alltrack crossover models in July.

No local details have yet been released for the revised Golf GTI and Golf R, which arrive here in August with increased power outlets of 169kW and 213kW respectively.

As expected, all 2017 Golf models will come standard with autonomous emergency braking (Front Assist with City Emergency Brake, or City EB, in VW-speak) and alloy wheels.

And while Australians will miss out on the new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine that Volkswagen makes available elsewhere, the "full tube" 110kW/250Nm version of Volkswagen’s 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four will be standard in all petrol hatchback and wagon variants following the discontinuation of the base 92kW engine.

For 2017, the hatchback range opens with the 110TSI and the choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmissions, while the Golf Wagon opens at 110TSI Trendline level and comes standard with a 7DSG auto, and all 110TSI Comfortline models are auto-only.

In addition to the 110TSI engine, diesel becomes an option in the Highline hatchback, powered by Volkswagen’s 110kW/340Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel with 7DSG.

Rounding out the Golf 7.5 launch range will be the MY17 Golf Alltrack all-wheel drive, which adds an entry-level 1.8-litre turbo-petrol variant (Alltrack 132TSI) and a diesel – Alltrack 135TDI Premium, powered by a 135kW/380Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel with new seven-speed wet-clutch DSG auto.

Gloss paint options are Pure White (all Golf models) and Tornado Red (Alltrack). Metallic finishes available on all Golf models are Tungsten Silver and Iridium Grey. Hatchback and Wagon only metallic options are Tumeric Yellow and Atlantic Blue. Pearl effect finish in Deep Black is available on all Golf variants.
