Australian performance outfit Walkinshaw Performance has today announced its first ‘W Series’ model. The high-output W310 Commodore SS boosts the performance of its derivative VF model, the modified model now developing 310kW and 580Nm.
Considering the donor model offers an output figure of 260kW and 517Nm, the increase is significant -- taking the W310’s output to a figure approximating its more expensive brethren at Holden Special Vehicles.
Walkinshaw Performance general manager, Tony Harris, says that the W310 not only ups the performance of the Commodore SS but also improves driveability, without compromising Holden’s three-year factory warranty.
“We think this is the best performance package we have ever produced,” said Harris. “The final figures are impressive as our previous power pack saw gains of up to 10 per cent. With the W310 package it’s more like 20 per cent, and we did this without compromising the drivability of the vehicle.”
Harris said that the added performance of the new W310 is topped only by a customised exhaust system. The twin system features high-flow catalytic converters and a stainless steel cat-back system aimed at adding ‘extra growl’.
“One of the highlights of this package is the all new exhaust system that brings back the growl V8 owners love so much,” Harris added.
A cold-air intake, custom-calibrated ECU and ceramic coated headers add to the W310’s performance credentials. The model is distinguished by a build plate and rear deck badging.
The Walkinshaw Performance W310 package adds $6495 to the price of the Holden Commodore SS on which it is based, and is available now.
