Mercedes has released an official video tease of its next-generation Mercedes-AMG A 45 hot hatch that appears to show it will come with a drift mode.
The new vid, posted on its social media channels over the weekend, is entitled 'Not another Christmas video' shows the 2019 Mercedes-AMG 45 drifting at some remarkable angles on a damp test circuit somewhere in southern Germany.
The high-octane film, also shows the Ford Focus RS-rivalling Mercedes-AMG 45 sacrificing more than a few cones as its driver attempts to escape Christmas.
Despite fully camouflaged, the video is still revealing as it shows the A 45 hyper hatch will come with a different AMG GT R-inspired grille and a completely redesigned front bumper that incorporates more sophisticated air-bending aids.
Featuring the same quad tailpipes and a near identical rear wing to the A 35, the range topping AMG hatch also appears to ride on a set of new rims that are thought to hide uprated brakes.
Under the bonnet, the new A 45 is expected to serve up more than 300kW from its turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol that's set to be matched with an eight-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
Once again channelling its power and torque to the road via Mercedes' 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the next-gen A 45 should be capable of hitting 100km/h in around 4.0 seconds before topping out at a limited 250km/h-- without it the A 45 could be the first small hot hatch to hit 300km/h.
Boosting agility and its ability to hoon in style, the next A 45 will come with an all-new drift mode that was first developed by Mercedes-AMG for its GT Four-Door Coupe.
Demonstrating some impressive drift angles in the video, the A 45 will also come with an adaptive suspension that's set to deliver better body control and a more settled ride, compared to the last car.
