XPeng’s G9L large SUV will arrive in Australian showrooms in early 2027, with six- and seven-seat layouts and both electric and range-extender powertrains planned.

Initially reported as coming in November, the G9L has now been confirmed as landing in local showrooms in early 2027.
Pricing will be unveiled within weeks, with expectations the lineup will launch with a starting price well under $100,000, but also climbing well above that mark.
The G9L’s pricing range will mean a wide logical competitor spread from the Toyota Kluger and Hyundai Palisade to the Kia EV9 and Volvo EX90.

Right-hand drive G9L production has already begun in China, with the initial batch earmarked for Australia.
The G9L made its European appearance at the 2026 Paris Motor Show after its earlier Chinese debut.
Measuring 5120mm long and 1999mm wide, with a 3100mm wheelbase, the G9L is a large SUV with a choice of six-seat accommodation – featuring second-row individual chairs – or a conventional seven-seat arrangement.

Battery-electric versions use an 800-volt architecture, with European specifications quoting up to 591km WLTP driving range and a 10–80 per cent DC charging time in as little as 11.7 minutes on suitable equipment.
The range-extender version uses a petrol engine to generate electricity rather than drive the wheels directly.
Chinese specifications include a 63.3kWh battery and up to 1602km combined range on the optimistic CLTC test cycle. Australian-certified figures are still to come.
It is not yet known which powertrain will reach Australian customers first or how the local grades will be structured.
The G9L will follow the L03 SUV into Australia, with the smaller model expected to reach dealerships before the end of 2026.
Both vehicles are part of a model rush by XPeng as it seeks to rebuild in Australia following its change of Australian distribution arrangements and a legal dispute.
