Sharee Beazley is no ordinary young woman working in an ordinary job.
As a pre-apprentice in the new workshop at Ferrari Maserati in Sydney, the 17 year old from the NSW coastal town of Kiama has what to most would be a dream job.
When she was a youngster working on her dad's car, she decided early on that "becoming a technician is something that I wanted to do. I have always been interested in taking things apart, finding out how they worked and putting them back together," she says.
Originally starting work in Minnamurra and Wollongong, Sharee was sceptical when the TAFE suggested she apply for a job with Ferrari Maserati.
"I just did not believe it would be possible, so when they told me I had got the job, I was just lost for words!"
But wait, there's more...
Subsequent to scoring her Ferrari Maserati job in Sydney, Sharee was presented with the Pre-apprenticeship Student of the Year award by Illawarra TAFE and the MTA.
The award recognises class-leading skills, knowledge and dedication and picks out the cream of young talent. For Sharee Beazley it is the second of two outstanding events in a compact timeframe; the award came only three months after beginning her pre-apprenticeship at Ferrari Maserati.
"I am learning more than I could have possibly imagined and I have the challenge of earning the respect of some of the most skilled and knowledgeable people in the car industry," she says.
What would be a downside to many is merely part of the job for Sharee: To travel to Sydney from Kiama, she has to get up at 3.30AM and doesn't return home until after 7.00PM.
"It's a long day, but I would not swap it for anything," she says.
