The Lexus LX, which denotes 'Luxury Crossover', was first born as the LX 450 in 1998, before the second-generation LX 470 appeared in 2007 and the current MkIII LX 570 was launched in 2007. It is essentially a more luxurious LandCruiser aimed directly at the US market. That's why the Japanese luxury brand's flagship SUV was available only in petrol form for a long time, powered by a 5.7-litre V8. In recent years, demand from the Russian market for a diesel version led to the development of the Lexus LX 450. Offering up to eight seats - just like the Toyota 200 Series LandCruiser on which it's based - the flagship Lexus SUV is mounted on a steel ladder frame.
