All-new Audi Q3 Sportback revealed

Another compact SUV joins Audi line-up; expected in Australia next year

Audi has revealed a sporty new crossover based on its existing Q3.

Resplendent with a raked roofline that mimics the new Q8, the all-new 2020 Audi Q3 Sportback will take on the likes of BMW’s X2 in the booming small premium SUV segment.

The Audi Q3 Sportback will be here in the first half of 2020, but Audi Australia says further details on the model line-up, including pricing and specifications, will be announced closer to its local launch.

What the German manufacturer has confirmed, however, are petrol and diesel engine options for European models, including a 169kW 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 110kW 2.0-litre turbo-diesel.

The car-maker is already working on a sportier RS Q3 Sportback that will eventually crown its compact SUV line-up in both price and performance. In addition, Audi says a mild-hybrid electric option is in the works, alongside a manual transmission and all-wheel drive quattro variants.

All Q3 Sportbacks will come standard with progressive steering and sport suspension, which can be optioned with damper control, and will also incorporate Audi’s drive select with six profiles on offer (off-road included).

Hill descent control and an electric tailgate can also be optioned.

In the tech department, the Q3 Sportback will come with Audi’s virtual cockpit and cloud-based service Alexa, to stream music and offer more than 80,000 skills.

A full safety kit will also be fitted, including lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera and autonomous emergency braking.

Measuring in at 4.5 metres long and 1.84 metres wide, the Q3 Sportback offers a 530-litre boot capacity when rear seats are up and 1400 litres once folded. The Audi Q3 Sportback was spotted testing earlier this year.
