Audi Q3 Sportback 110TFSI Launch Edition 2026 Review

As is the norm with most new models, the German brand’s small SUV has increased in price, with entry into the Audi Q3 range now $2900 more expensive.

There’s the choice of Wagon and Sportback body styles, with front- and all-wheel drive (quattro) drivetrains mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission dubbed S tronic.

We’re focusing on the coupe-esque version here, with our $69,000 2026 Audi Q3 Sportback 110TFSI Launch Edition essentially being the $64,600 base model with some extra kit. From there, the 150TFSI quattro is $72,700 and the performance-orientated 195TFSI Quattro rounds out proceedings at a hefty $84,400 (all prices exclude on-road costs).

Whether or not a plug-in hybrid version lands Down Under is yet to be determined at the time of writing, while you can rest assured that a stove-hot RS Q3 is in the works for our shores.

As for competition, the BMW X2 serves polarising design, especially against the conventional Mercedes-Benz GLA. And if you’re looking to go electric, the Kia EV3 in high-spec GT-Line with all-wheel drive is a key consideration.

As for aftersales care, the Q3 is covered by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, with roadside assistance included for the same period. Servicing is required every 12 months or 15,000km (whichever comes first), with a five-year/75,000km servicing pack available for $3330 – or $666 on average.

Interestingly, there’s also the option to extend the factory warranty to nine years, which is also transferable if you decide to sell the Q3 within that period.

There’s a sense that the third generation Audi Q3 has grown up. The overall visuals are more cohesive, with a move away from an angular design to more rounded elements. And the swoopy Sportback silhouette only adds to that aesthetic.

However, as we’ve stated, this 2026 Audi Q3 Sportback 110TFSI Launch Edition is a bit fancier than the entry grade on which it's based. So, what do you get for the extra $4400? Quite a bit, actually.

The added features include black accents, 19-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels, red brake callipers, metallic paint and a sound actuator (yes, really), but the big hitter is the inclusion of adaptive dampers.

Sans Launch Edition, kit the 110TFSI still isn’t lacking features.

The Sportback's S Line treatment comes with redesigned bumpers, adaptive LED headlights, three selectable daytime running light signatures, LED tail-lights, acoustic glazing for the front windows and a powered tailgate. All four doors also incorporate keyless entry, which is a premium touch other brands are eschewing due to cost-cutting measures.

Inside, there’s leather-appointed upholstery and, in the case of our test car, it’s been no-cost optioned to Pergament Beige. The front seats are heated and powered (with four-way lumbar support), while tri-zone climate control and colourful ambient lighting are also part of the deal.

Speaking of illumination, Audi’s revamped its four-ringed badge, which now glows red in combination with the rear light bar. The Navarra Blue metallic paint is included in the Launch Edition (premium paint is $1480 otherwise), so the only option-box ticked is for the $370 inlays, which are Silver Beige American whitewood.

The 2026 Audi Q3 Sportback 110TFSI Launch Edition is covered by a five-star ANCAP safety rating. It’s fitted with seven airbags, as well as rear outboard ISOFIX points and three top-tether anchorages.

Audi has beefed-up the active systems, too, with the Q3 gaining autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian, cyclist and vulnerable road user detection, adaptive cruise control with stop/go functionality, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning and keeping and rear cross-traffic alert.

Yes, it also has driver fatigue and attention monitoring as well as road sign recognition. However, Audi deserves praise for not only making its active safety arsenal easy to live with, but you can also switch off certain systems permanently via a dedicated physical menu button.

Parking is aided by sensors, a backup camera and a 360-degree monitor. Even the base model comes with self-parking as well as a reversing assistant that remembers 50 metres of your driven path in addition to being able to store customised manoeuvres.

This is all appreciated given the live footage from the reversing camera is grainy and low rent. Far more clarity is found in Chinese offerings half the price.

Proving the importance of Audi’s diminutive SUV is the fact it has debuted the brand’s latest MMI system, which incorporates a ‘curved digital stage’ with dual screens.

In layman’s terms, this equates to it gaining a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen and 11.9-inch instrument cluster housed in a stylised black surround. The former harnesses wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the latter is Audi’s swish Virtual Cockpit.

So, the 2026 Audi Q3 Sportback 110TFSI Launch Edition isn’t short on tech. it also comes with a ventilated wireless charge pad, USB-C ports, Audi MMI navigation with connected services, DAB+ digital radio and a 10-speaker, 260-watt sound system with subwoofer.

While the outputs remain the same, the 2026 Audi Q3 Sportback 110TFSI Launch Edition receives a new powerplant underneath its shapely bonnet. Out is the boosted 1.4-litre unit, replaced by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol mild-hybrid arrangement.

And when we say mild, we mean lemon and herb on the Nando’s scale. As the nomenclature suggests, it produces 110kW and 250Nm as before, but that’s supplemented by 9kW and 50Nm in certain situations by the 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

Performance is adequate around the CBD, with the 1720kg Q3 Sportback reaching 100km/h from rest in 9.1 seconds. And proving ‘zee Germans’ do have a sense of humour is the fact launch control is present. Yes, really.

It can struggle a little more out on the open road, especially if you encounter steep inclines or require a swift overtaking move. Oddly, the included sound actuator doesn’t help, making the little 1.5-litre engine’s acoustics appear more strained than they are.

You can switch it off, though, as well as set up your own Individual drive mode.

As far as hybrid systems go, this one is pretty hands off and it can’t be driven at meaningful speeds on electric power alone.

The 2026 Audi Q3 Sportback 110TFSI Launch Edition’s official combined fuel consumption of 5.7L/100km is commendable, but we couldn’t get near that figure. After a week of driving in the city, suburbs and on the highway, 6.8L/100km is all she wrote. At least 95 RON premium unleaded is required, too.

Arguably one of the Audi Q3 Sportback 110TFSI Launch Edition’s greatest strengths is something buyers of this SUV will care about the least. And that’s how it drives around corners on country roads.

Being based on the Volkswagen Group’s venerable MQB Evo platform, the front-drive Q3 displays appreciable levels of dynamic talent. No, it isn’t performance-orientated, but the level of body control is confidence inspiring and there’s a sense of quality with how it covers ground outside the CBD.

The Launch Edition gains two-valve adaptive dampers, meaning you can tailor the level of firmness or compliance via the Drive Select modes (Balanced, Dynamic, Comfort and Efficiency). It deals with undulations well and never really floats too much.

However, around city streets filled with sharp potholes, the Q3 is a little less convincing – even with adaptive dampers – but it isn’t to a deal-breaking level. While there is the ability to soften off the suspension into a Comfort mode, it never quite lives up to that billing like it does on the highway. Lumps and bumps are also heard within the cabin.

While there’s been improvements to the S tronic transmission’s behaviour, with particular attention paid to slow-speed smoothness, there’s further work to be done. The dual-clutch unit seems to struggle most with the 1.5-litre four-cylinder MHEV unit and front-wheel drive. There is low-speed hesitation and some jerkiness.

Move through to second gear and beyond and the experience becomes far more pleasing, with quick shifts on the run and the ability to select ratios on your own via the steering wheel-mounted paddles.

Progressive steering is now standard across the Q3 range, which essentially means it’s easier to twirl around carparks and roundabouts without losing all connection on the open road. Yes, it remains light, but there is a natural feel to it that’s pleasing.

Visually, the 2026 Audi Q3 Sportback 110TFSI Launch Edition's interior design is a big step forward.

The Q3 ushers in a new steering column-mounted ‘bar’ that houses the drive selector, indicators and wiper manipulation. At first, it takes some adjusting to and you’re left wondering ‘why?’ but once familiar, it proves effective.

Yes, most of the switchgear has been moved to the central touchscreen, but a menu bar remains constantly docked to the bottom of the display for quick access to things like the climate control. Although, more than one input is required for frequently used items like fan speed.

Still, the infotainment screen is responsive with a logical interface and there are some physical buttons still in play – notably the tactile volume knob. Ergonomics are decent and there are enough storage solutions with cup holders, a glovebox, central bin and accommodating bottle holders in the door cards.

At night, the ambient lighting brings the cabin to life and creates a premium atmosphere.

There are a few missteps, though. Namely, where the fabric-covered dash meets the American whitewood inlays. It isn’t a polished join and looks rather untidy. The piano black accents are scratch magnets, too. It might sound like we’re being overly picky, but when you’re being asked to pay $69k for a small SUV, certain standards must be met.

The biggest bugbear, however, is the chunky surround encasing the twin screens. It’s most apparent with the instrument cluster, making Audi’s usually impressive Virtual Cockpit appear as though you’re looking through a letter box. It seems like a bit of a wasted opportunity.

Still, it’s a comfortable place to be and, for a ‘small’ SUV, it doesn’t feel small inside. Backseat legroom is impressive for the class, but the tapering roofline does cut into headroom slightly. USB-C ports, map pockets, a central arm rest and air vents with a third zone of climate control is a boon.

There’s no cargo-capacity penalty for choosing extra style with the Sportback, either. The boot remains the same 488 litres as the Wagon (given Audi measures to the top of the rear seats), yet it does concede a little with the 40/20/40-split pews stowed – they also slide forward and aft for added flexibility.

There’s a space-saver spare hiding under the flat floor.

There’s a sense that while the 2026 Audi Q3 Sportback 110TFSI Launch Edition is a competent, luxury-focused offering, it isn’t the Q3 to buy for those with their heart set on the SUV-coupe design.

If you’re already stumping up $69k for the special edition, opting for the $72,700 150TFSI not only affords a bigger engine with more power, but you get Quattro all-wheel drive, too.

Then there’s the possibility of the Q3 e-hybrid that’s offered overseas but not currently confirmed for Australia (at the time of writing). Admittedly, it will be more expensive to purchase.

While the Q3’s edges might not be as rounded as the third generation’s new styling, it remains a pleasingly premium product within the small SUV realm.
