GWM/Haval Australia has quietly upped the prices of the 2022 Haval Jolion, citing various supply chain cost pressures as the reason behind the $1000 increase across the range.
This is the second time in three months that prices for the Chinese brand’s small SUV have risen, following a similar increase back in October 2021.
With this latest hike, the Haval Jolion range now opens from $27,490 drive-away for the entry-level Premium model – $2000 more than when the all-new model (which replaced the previous Haval H2) launched mid-2021.
There haven’t been any changes to the line-up or standard equipment levels, with the same Premium, Lux and Ultra model grades continuing.
The Lux and Ultra are priced from $29,990 and $32,990 respectively (both drive-away).
All are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
A similar price rise has also just been applied to the bigger Haval H6 mid-size SUV.
While a pair of $1000 price rises within the space of a few months is significant for a budget-oriented model that’s only been on the market for less than a year, the Haval Jolion still holds its own against most of its key rivals.
Thanks to its standard drive-away pricing, the plucky Chinese offering still undercuts auto-equipped base-model variants of the Hyundai Kona (from $26,600 plus ORCs), Kia Seltos (from $26,790 plus ORCs) and Mitsubishi ASX (from $26,740 plus ORCs), to name three. The on-road costs all push them higher than the Jolion.
The obvious exception is the MG ZS, which is the top-selling model in the segment with a low starting price of $21,990 drive-away.
How much does the 2022 Haval Jolion cost?
Premium – $27,490
Lux – $29,990
Ultra – $32,990
* All prices are drive-away (including on-road costs)
