Subaru has shown off STI cosmetic upgrades for its new-generation 2023 Subaru Impreza small car at the Tokyo Auto Salon, including a sleek black lip and side skirt kit, aggressive black alloy wheels, central exhaust outlets and a black roof spoiler.
The preview follows the new Impreza’s November debut at the LA motor show and largely mimics the optional styling accessories available on the hotter Subaru WRX in lieu of an STI flagship.
Subaru has been surprisingly cagey in detailing the parts but has released a telling batch of media images of the spruced-up Impreza, which was shown alongside a Subaru Levorg STI Sport prototype, Subaru Crosstrek Boost Gear concept and Subaru Rex Boost Gear concept.
The hot-looking Levorg wagon follows the example set by the local Subaru Forester Sport in coming standard with a batch of sportier aesthetic touches, whereas the Crosstrek Boost Gear concept showcases what could be possible for the incoming new small SUV in terms of off-road capability and menace.
The Rex Boost Gear concept is a similarly tarted-up version of the JDM Subaru Rex – rebadged Daihatsu Rocky – light SUV.
Other key reveals at the Tokyo Auto Salon were the 2023 Subaru WRX NBR Challenge and Rally Challenge cars.
None of these models or accessories have been confirmed for the Australian market, however the standard Impreza and Crosstrek will arrive Down Under later this year, joining the current-generation Levorg which is sold in local showrooms as the Subaru WRX Sportwagon.
