Ford Australia has finally confirmed the 2024 Ford Ranger Tremor will be its newest special-edition ute following the recently-detailed Black Edition.
Priced from $69,690 plus on-road costs, the 2024 Ford Ranger Tremor is based on the existing 2.0-litre biturbo Ranger Sport and can be seen as a cut-price follow-up to last year’s limited-run Wildtrak X with its bespoke Bilstein suspension, widened tracks, extra ground clearance and General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres.
The Wildtrak X-spec suspension comprises specially-developed Bilstein position-sensitive dampers with external reservoirs and matching springs that add an extra 26mm of ground clearance when combined with the more aggressive AT rubber, which in turn widens the tracks by 30mm.
Other mechanical enhancements include heavy-duty power steering gear, Ford’s full-time 4x4 system and an overhead auxiliary switch bank for the fitment of aftermarket accessories.
Boosting capability beyond the extra clearance, grip and 4x4 system are Trail Turn Assist 3, Trail Control 3 and Rock Crawl 3, the latter two of which have been pinched straight off the Baja-conquering Ranger Raptor.
The whole package is then dressed-up with a black honeycomb grille with auxiliary LED lamps, a steel bash-plate, cast-aluminium side steps, long-legged sports bar, plenty of ‘Tremor’ badging and embossing, and Tremor-branded all-weather floor mats.
Headline kit carried over from the Sport donor vehicle includes black leather upholstery, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control and eight-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat.
No changes have been made to the four-cylinder biturbo-diesel under the bonnet, including its familiar 150kW/500Nm outputs and 10-speed automatic transmission with low-range gearing, which combines with a locking rear differential in the award-winning dual-cab 4x4 ute package.
“Ranger Tremor builds on the success of the popular Wildtrak X, offering the same enhanced capabilities, making it ideal for tough Australian conditions,” said Ford Australia marketing director Ambrose Henderson.
“The Tremor takes the highlights of Wildtrak X and combines them with the Sport series, resulting in a more budget-friendly off-road warrior that’s ready-to-go for the adventures that hard-working Aussies love.”
Arctic White is the default exterior paint colour ,with Shadow Black, Meteor Grey, Aluminium, Blue Lightning and Conquer Grey all being optional extras.
