2024 Leapmotor C10 goes big on value

Fresh Chinese SUV undercuts Tesla yardstick by a considerable amount

Stellantis Australia has locked in a $45,888 plus on-roads starting price for the new 2024 Leapmotor C10 electric SUV, positioning the Chinese offering some $10,000 downstream of the Tesla Model Y.

As previously reported, the C10 is being offered here in two forms: Style ($45,888) and Design ($49,888), each powered by a single-motor powertrain comprising a 160kW/320Nm motor on the rear axle and a 69.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

Included in the asking prices is a year’s worth of free charging via the Chargefox network, though this offer only applies to vehicles delivered by March 31, 2025.

Leapmotor claims both C10s will cover up to 420km (WLTP) on a full charge and can be DC fast-charged at up to 84kW, yielding a 30-80 per cent charge in about half an hour.

Nearly all these numbers (save for the charging) are lower than the European versions we test drove earlier this month, however Stellantis Australia is yet to provide an official explanation for the discrepancies.

Regardless, the C10 Style’s equipment list is headlined by 18-inch alloy wheels, dusk-sensing LED headlights, a 14.6-inch infotainment system, sat-nav, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, wireless phone charger, a fixed panoramic roof, 12-speaker sound system, 360-degree camera and flush door handles.

The Design builds on this with bigger 20-inch alloys, LED tail-light bar with animated signature, Silicone leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, powered tailgate, interior air quality monitor, multi-colour ambient lighting and rear privacy glass.

Every C10 is covered by a seven-year/160,000km factory warranty with an extra year applying to the traction battery.

More variants, including a dual-motor flagship and a range-extender hybrid, will be added to the mix at a later date.

How much does the 2024 Leapmotor C10 cost?
Style – $45,888
Design – $49,888
*Prices exclude on-road costs
