The formidable 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance has been treated to a mild mid-life facelift in Europe, which brings a redesigned front fascia, new infotainment graphics and an uptick in standard equipment.
The monstrous four-door coupe’s front-end styling has been brought more into line with the second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT coupe via a new grille, bumper, headlight and intake, which ultimately soften its demeanour and make it look more like a big CLS.
The new front-end is also complemented by a minor revision to the tail-light clusters.
No changes have been made to the all-conquering 620kW/1400Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain or supporting hardware – AMG Performance 4MATIC+ AWD system, AMG Ride Control+ air suspension and nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, etc – which means the new model is still just as fast as its predecessor, dispatching 0-100km/h in 2.9 seconds.
As for the interior, the previously optional sunroof and wireless charging pad between the rear seats are now included as standard, while the MBUX system has scored some redesigned, AMG-specific graphics and extra configurability.
Opalite White Metallic has been added to the exterior colour palette.
Mercedes-Benz Australia is yet to confirm launch timing for its updated performance flagship, but expect it to land later in 2024 – with a premium applied to the current asking price of $399,900 plus on-road costs.
