Hot on the heels of yesterday’s ASX announcement, Mitsubishi Australia has doubled down and announced some revisions to the Mitsubishi Outlander line-up for the 2024 model year, headlined by the addition of the Black Edition as a full-time offering.
Previously known as the LS Black Edition, Mitsubishi says the stylish mid-range variant had proven so popular with consumers that it has earned a permanent position within the popular Outlander range as a standalone variant.
Building on the standard equipment list of the second-tier Outlander LS, the Black Edition is defined by its black exterior design cues – 20-inch alloys, mirrors, bumper treatments, grille and pillar trim – and matching black interior finished off with Mi-Suede and synthetic leather seat trim.
However, its full-time status comes at a cost, both literally and figuratively, because the Black Edition’s retail price has risen by $500 to $42,990 plus on-road costs, while the ES AWD has quietly been shown the door.
It should be noted that the Black Edition isn’t the only MY24 variant sporting a new retail price – the entire Outlander portfolio has risen by between $500 and $800 depending on the grade and powertrain, on account of the new range-wide fitment of automatic headlights and rear seat alert system.
Following said price increases, the petrol Outlander line-up now starts from $37,740 plus ORCs, while the PHEVs start from $57,290 plus ORCs.
The only other changes of note can be found in the colour palette, with Graphite Grey metallic being added to the mix as a replacement for Titanium metallic, while the two-tone arrangement on the Exceed Tourer is now available in Graphite Grey with Black Mica roof, and Black Diamond with Sterling Silver roof.
Carried over untouched are the familiar 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol and 2.4-litre plug-in hybrid powertrains, the former of which still good for 135kW/245Nm and the latter for 185kW/450Nm.
Production of the MY24 Outlander line-up started last month, with first examples arriving in dealerships in November.
