GWM Australia has added another Tank 500 variant to its ranks, but it isn’t the anticipated plug-in hybrid.
Priced from $75,990 drive away, the 2025 GWM Tank 500 Hybrid Vanta is essentially an Ultra donning a $2000 Darth Vader costume, presumably in preparation for the upcoming Christmas in July parties.
Arriving in local showrooms early next month and only being offered in Crystal Black, the Tank 500 Vanta dons a gloss black front grille badging, black bumper inserts, headlight internals, taillight surrounds, spare wheel cover, tailgate door trim and rear diffuser, gloss black door handles, roof rails and window trim, black 18-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers and black scuff plates.
No changes have been made to any of the 500’s existing mechanical or chassis componentry, nor its equipment list, meaning buyers get the Vader vibes and all the toys a 4x4 enthusiast could want.
Highlights of the kit list include a panoramic roof, Nappa leather upholstery, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, tri-zone climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, locking front and rear differentials, full-time 4x4, a 14.6-inch infotainment system, 12.3-inch instrument panel, an Infinity 12-speaker sound system and see-through cameras.
The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain is still good for 258kW/615Nm and still operates through a nine-speed automatic transmission with low-range gearing.
How much does the 2025 GWM Tank 500 Hybrid cost?
