2025 Lexus LX line-up arrives, Overtrail included

New tech and enhanced safety gear drive Lexus’ most expensive SUV further upstream

The 2025 Lexus LX portfolio has arrived Down Under priced from $158,700 plus on-road costs, off the back of a technology and safety upgrade for the new model year, not to mention the new Overtrail off-road hero which starts from $182,300.

All LX variants have been treated to a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and an improved autonomous emergency braking system that can now detect motorcycles (day) and cyclists (day and night) as well as stop while crossing intersections.

Safe exit assist, an emergency driving stop system and a driver monitor camera have also been added to the range, along with a couple of other grade-specific additions.

The base Luxury for instance has scored soft-close doors and a centre console cool box while the Sports Luxury (from $176,300) and F Sport (from $182,300) nab massaging front seats and four-way adjustable headrests.

At the top of the tree, the opulent Ultra ($220,950) has been gifted a wireless smartphone charger in the front row to complement the existing one in the back.

Being a new addition to the range, the Overtrail doesn’t nab any new gear, but it does leverage the standard equipment list of the Luxury, plus the option Enhancement Pack which, for reference, adds 22-inch alloy wheels, a moon roof and hands-free kick sensor for the powered tailgate.

Twenty-two-inch wheels aren’t much good for off-roading however which is why the Overtrail swaps them out for grey 18s and grippy Toyo all-terrain tyres, not to mention a heap of other darkened exterior trim bits.

The rest of the Overtrail’s enhancements extend to a 30-litre auxiliary fuel tank and front and rear differential locks.

As with every other LX besides the Ultra, the Overtrail is available in 500d twin-turbo-diesel (3.3L V6, 227kW/700Nm) and 600 twin-turbo-petrol (3.5L V6, 305kW/650Nm) guises.

All LXs feature the same 10-speed automatic transmission, a full-time 4x4 system, low-range gearing and a 3500kg braked towing capacity.

At this stage there’s no sign of the mammoth Tundra-powered LX700h, a powertrain Lexus Australia is understood to still be “evaluating the availability and suitability of”.
