More details of the upcoming 2025 Mercedes-Benz CLA have been revealed following the release of a new short video showing the new Tesla Model 3 rival being tested.
Claimed to be Mercedes’ most advanced vehicle yet, the new CLA retains the current car’s sporty four-door coupe lines and, according the car giant’s CEO Ola Källenius, will be available with both battery-electric and hybrid powertrains.
Focusing on that last avenue, Källenius announced during the video that the CLA would come with an all-new BEV powertrain featuring a two-speed transmission that’d ensure class-leading levels of refinement.
It’s also said the all-new CLA should be among the fastest rechargers on the market thanks to an expected 800-volt electrical architecture that allows DC fast-charging rates of more than 250kW to add 400km of range in as little as 15 minutes.
The original concept came with 175kW e-motor backed by an undisclosed battery that was said to see the Model 3 rival cover up to 750km between charges.
It’s believed that hybrid version meantime will be centred around a new 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine sourced from Geely.
Elsewhere in the video, Benz’s boss also fully reveals the CLA’s slimline headlights that will feature an unusual star-shaped LED daylight running lamp within.
Other takeaways are the CLA will feature frameless doors and get a full length panoramic roof, while within the cabin an artificial intelligence-powered MB.OS software will offer the brand’s latest in-car voice-activated assistant that’s said to cut driver distraction on the move.
Expect more teases of the Mercedes CLA in the build-up to its 2025 launch.
