The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is now classified as a medium goods vehicle (NB1) instead of a light goods vehicle (NA), meaning the big Chevy’s GVM has increased from 3300kg to 3505kg and in turn provided a useful payload increase.

The Finer Details
Cutting right to the chase, both the ‘MY26i’ LTZ Premium and ZR2 carry revised GVMs of 3505kg, providing the former with an increased 942kg payload (up from 748kg) and the latter 922kg (up from 713kg).
The new models will be able to be spotted by their new black exterior trim upgrades, comprising the exterior lettering on the LTZ Premium, front bow tie badge, and black Z71 fender badges, while the ZR2 makes do only with black Chevrolet tailgate lettering.
One final upgrade for the LTZ Premium is the fitment of new twin tube dampers, replacing the previous Z71/Rancho combination.
The Road Ahead
Despite the various enhancements, pricing for the 2026 Silverado 1500 has only increased $1000, meaning the full-sized pickup now starts from $135,990 (LTZ Premium) plus on-road costs and tops out at $147,490 (ZR2).
