The 2026 Subaru Uncharted has been officially unveiled overseas as the Japanese brand’s third dedicated electric model and the zero-emission alternative to the Crosstrek.
Luring us in with a single teaser shot last week, the all-new adventure-ready Uncharted made a proper debut in New York this week.
Set to slot in below the Solterra, it’s clear Subi’s latest machine is, as predicted, a spin-off of the 2025 Toyota C-HR+ EV; sharing a familiar body, platform and tech in the same way the larger Solterra is a clone of the Toyota bZ4X.
Yet to be confirmed for Australia, the new EV is due on sale in the US early next year where it will be offered in three trim grades: Premium, Sport and GT.
The entry-level Premium will come with a single electric motor up-front producing 165kW, while the Sport and GT bring a dual-motor, all-wheel drive set-up good for 252kW and some all-terrain forays courtesy of X-Mode.
A 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery should offer a driving range of up to 482km in the base model and up to 466km in the dual-motor versions.
DC fast-charging (up to 150kW) is said to take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent charge in about half an hour.
Apart from a few exterior design tweaks, the Uncharted will differentiate itself from the C-HR+ with a unique suspension tune and a similar turning circle to the Crosstrek (read tighter than the Toyota’s).
Headline equipment includes 18- or 20-inch alloy wheels, an illuminated six-star logo, electric tailgate, a 14-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless smartphone charging, ambient interior lighting and heated front seats.
All-wheel drives will come fitted with low-profile roof rails along with weather-resistant ‘StarTex’ interior upholstery, while flagship GT ups the ante with black exterior badging, silver exterior trim and heated rear outboard seats.
Safety equipment is said to include the full Subaru EyeSight suite, with autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree parking camera and more included out the box.
