207 for sub $19K; 4007 cheaper

Peugeot drops entry price of 207 hatch and 4007 SUV

Peugeot Australia has adjusted pricing for the 207 and 4007 SUV lineups. The entry level 207 hatchback now starts at $18,990 and the 4007 ST model is priced at $34,990.

The company has a lot to say in terms of the small, medium and large car segments but it also wants to be more competitive in the light car market, according to Peugeot Australia MD, Ken Thomas.

The 207CC now features full leather trim as part of the range adjustments.

Slow sales of the 4007 medium SUV have also attracted Peugeot Australia's attention, bringing a significant drop in the range entry price, by $6500. The Mitsubishi Outlander-based softroader was originally priced at the premium-end of its segment and Peugeot Australia admits to recent supply issues.

Thomas says the 4007 attracts more enquiry than other products in the local Peugeot range and the price adjustment will turn more enquiries to sales.

Late 2012 will see the introduction of the 4008 compact SUV. Peugeot Australia expects pricing to start under $30K for the new model which is based on Mitsubishi's ASX.

Also scheduled for next year is the 207's replacement with the 208, and the return of the GTI model for local buyers.
